Russian Delegation Meets SSUET Team: Russian Universities Can Award 400 Scholarships Every Year: Academics – Pakistan

KARACHI: A delegation of Russian professors and scholars revealed that about 400 government scholarships are available each year for Pakistani students at Russian higher education institutions and expressed hope that the number of Pakistani students benefiting from this facility would increase in the future.

A team of officials from the Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET), led by its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Vali Uddin, visited the Russian Center for Science and Culture (House of friendship) to meet the delegation composed of representatives of seven major universities of the Russian Federation.

The SSUET team included Registrar Commodore (retired) Syed Sarfraz Ali, the deans of all faculties, the chairman of the business department, senior professors from the mathematics department, and the director of ORIC.

The Russian delegation has agreed to establish a close working relationship with SSUET, Karachi and other universities in Pakistan. The delegation, led by Vice-Rector for International Affairs of Tomsk State University, Prof. Artyom Yu. Rykun, discussed and agreed to launch various joint academic programs, including faculty exchange programs and of students, joint research publications and co-supervision of doctoral research projects of SSUET engineering departments.

The foreign delegation also appreciated the participation of a large number of students from the Aligarh Institute of Technology, which is sponsored by the Aligarh Muslim University Boys Alumni Association of Pakistan with SSUET.

The head of the Russian Science and Culture Center added that Russian universities would like to start joint projects in the fields of engineering, IT, business and mathematics with SSUET in the first phase, and then would like to expand collaboration in other areas. including medical sciences whose programs will soon be launched by SSUET.

Meaningful collaboration of SSUET with Russian universities would surely result in improved research areas such as engineering design, environmental monitoring, climate change and smart agriculture.
